Spring Denim

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

For this post, I chose two outfits
with denim for the spring weather transition
(it's been a slow, wet one here)
Denim is one of those miraculous fabrics that is so versatile,
it can be adapted to all types of clothing
 and worn in any season
It is manufactured in an amazing variety
 of weights, washes and colors
Denim is a good choice for so many occasions, as well
Did you see Da'Vine Joy Randolph's
incredible gown designed by Zac Posen for Levi's
at the Met Gala?
I like to always have some updated pieces in my wardrobe
How about you-are you a denim girl?

For my first outfit this week, I am wearing
a light wash denim midi skirt
with an A line shape, two deep on seam side pockets
and an attached waist sash
I tied the sash in a big bow for this wear
I do wish the sash was detachable,
and not sewn into the side seams, thou
This would have made the skirt more versatile
Worn with a ribbed knit faux wrap variegated heather knit top
in mostly a dusty pink color

For jewelry, I picked out a very special vintage necklace
to add interest to the outfit,
and fill in the wide V neckline of this top
The necklace is of stylized fishes,
with faux gemstone eyes,
and has a burnished texture finish
My jewelry is minimal, a yellow and rose gold tone wrap bracelet, and large hoop earrings

Carrying a cognac adjustable strap bag
that has the look of a mini grocery sack,

and wearing my favorite western look booties
with studded curved tops,
because they always look right with denim!

Another outfit with denim,
this one with classic straight leg, medium dark wash jeans
The floral print peplum blouse
has some "Peach Fuzz" in the floral print
along with another shade of orange, brown and a little blue
This style of floral and the colors in it always make me think 1970's

For jewelry, a gold tone hinged collar necklace,
triangular blue stone bracelet and drop open circle earrings
to go with the general boho look or the outfit

Carrying the same bag as in the first outfit

For shoes, cognac woven suede block heel slides

I will be packing most of my darker wash denim
including these jeans,
and my darker shoes and bags this weekend
to be brought back out in the fall

Denim from the past-
this is one of the items I was wearing in the spring of 2017!
Do you remember that major off-the-shoulder moment?
It was revived in 2016 and was a big trend for several years
I only partook in this trend with a couple of pieces,
and this lightweight, light wash jumpsuit was one of them
I tried it, it had mass appeal for day time and casual wear,
which I thought was a little unusual
The jumpsuit just did not feel like me,
and was consigned after a hand full of wears
Not one of my best CPW outfits!

Hope you all have a good week!

Spring Florals for Mother's Day

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Wishing a very happy Mother's Day this week
to all of the mothers out there!
Mother's Day is the perfect time
to remember, recognize and celebrate
the mom(s) in your life, as well as
all of the women in our lives
who take on the role of mentor and caregiver
Send them flowers and shower them
with hugs and kisses always,
and especially on their special day

This week seems the perfect time to give all the flowers,
and wear all the flowers, too
Do you like to wear floral prints?
I do, but I know everyone doesn't like them on their bodies,
and would prefer to dress in solid colors
or other prints and patterns
so you do you!

For this post, I chose two dresses,
each with a very different look and floral print
The first one has a muted, low contrast pattern
of tan flowers on an ivory background
I like all of the feminine details on this dress-
the short puffed sleeves, the flattering V neckline,
and of course, the swishy deep ruffled hem

I usually swap out the belt
if a garment comes with a self fabric one, or a sash waist tie,
but this one seems to actually compliment the dress,
 so it stays, for now

Gold tone jewelry blends in very nicely with the golden tan print
of the flowers in this dress,
so I chose flower shaped post earrings,
a chain collar necklace and a bow bracelet
all in gold tone

In keeping with the neutral palette
I am carrying a tan reptile embossed handle bag,

and wearing tan d'Orsey kitten heel pumps
with buckle details

For my second flowery outfit, I chose a bold, high contrast
William Morris-esque print in navy blue and white
It is a midi wrap style dress, with a banded waist
The sash belt is attached, and can be tied multiple ways-
in the front, on the side or in the back
I tied it in the back for this wear,
as there is a lot of busy-ness in the print already
to add long streamers or a bow

I tried on several necklaces, that just seemed like too much
so I opted not to wear one at all
I settled on large, bright white 3-D enamel earrings
and an organic shaped gold tone cuff

Carrying a pinkish nude draw cord bucket bag,

and wearing similar colored tie kitten heels

I have loved wearing florals for many years!
Here is a floral dress from this time of year
from the way back machine: 2019

A beautiful spring bouquet
for all to enjoy!

I hope everyone enjoys their Mother's Day and their week!
